About Health Care Consulting at Pivot
Krystal Oswin-Buchanan, RN, BScN - Nursing Educator, Clinical Specialist, Medical Legal Consultant, Author and Doctoral Candidate
Krystal brings over 18 years of nursing experience across emergency care, obstetrics, NICU, pediatrics, and community settings, showcasing her clinical expertise. As a long-standing Nursing Faculty member and Program Coordinator at Georgian College, she has led curriculum development for multiple programs, guided internationally educated nurses through health care training and transition-to-practice pathways, and contributed as a published textbook author and expert reviewer in Canadian nursing education.
Her clinical leadership experience includes roles in labour and delivery, emergency nursing, neonatal resuscitation instruction (NRP), fetal health surveillance education, and interim educator positions supporting OBS, pediatrics, and ER teams. With a passion for mentorship, psychological safety, and skill development, Krystal's approach enhances patient experience and frontline coaching. She combines academic rigor with frontline credibility and is deeply committed to improving outcomes for both patients and the clinicians who care for them.
Alexander Buchanan, M.Ed., ACP — Paramedic and Nursing Educator, Clinical Specialist & Operational Optimization Consultant
Expertise: Advanced care paramedicine, emergency operations, leadership, flow coordination, union & labor relations, teaching, coaching, and simulation-based education.
Alex is an Advanced Care Paramedic with more than 22 years of experience serving the community across emergency response, advanced prehospital care, international medical transport, community paramedicine, and operational leadership. His clinical expertise shines through his role as a Paramedic Superintendent and Emergency Department Flow Coordinator, where he has coordinated complex clinical operations, strengthened patient flow, and supported multidisciplinary teams through data-driven decision-making.
Alongside his frontline practice, Alex is a Professor at Seneca College and Georgian College, teaching in nursing and paramedicine programs with a focus on health care training, leadership, human resource management, clinical reasoning, and skills development. He holds a Master’s in Education with a specialization in Leadership and is certified in LEAN Six Sigma Green Belt methodology, PALS instruction, and neonatal resuscitation.
His strong foundation in operationalization, analytics, training, mediation, and emergency services coordination makes him especially effective in improving workflows, coaching frontline teams, and enhancing the patient experience through scenario-based learning—and advising film and television productions requiring accurate emergency care representation.
